VBS Program

Summer Youth Programs - Coupling a traditional Vacation Bible School with a dynamic teen revival, BYM designs each program to fit your church’s unique situation. BYM will provide the curriculum, an evangelist and pre-VBS training for your church volunteer workers. BYM’s programs have resulted in the salvation of the lost, and lives changed. Vacation Bible Schools have left tremendous lasting results in the local church. (Note also that a Missionary based - as opposed to vegetable based - VBS curriculum is available for your church to run without the aid of a BYM evangelist click here for more info)

Use the links below to explore the many wonderful aspects of our unique VBS program. To further discuss the possibilities and benefits of having a BYM Vacation Bible School in your church, contact us at vbs@bym.org Note: Before contacting us, please read the "What we are" info found under the General Information section of our website.

Testimonies

“90% of our growth over the last three years is a direct result of these men helping us.” -pastor in Wisconsin

“As a church planter I needed a good start and a positive image in our community. BYM’s program and men gave us just what we needed.” -pastor in Oregon

“At our VBS closing program we had more unsaved people in attendance than at any time in the history of our church” -pastor in Colorado

These comments come from pastors and church planters. Men who are in the business of building churches. Men who are looking for tools that work. They and hundreds of others have found what they needed through the missionary work of Baptist Youth Mission.

Features and Benefits

Baptist Youth Mission is in the business of helping local churches do what they need to do to reach thier youth.

Baptist Youth Mission was founded with the purpose of helping local, independent, Baptist churches do youth work in their communities. We act as assistants or youth pastors for those churches with little staff.

Features
Evangelist-based VBS and Teen Revival
We believe God uses men. God sought for a man to stand in the gap. While we have a balanced and flexible curriculum, we believe the greater impact on young people today is a godly youth worker. Our men can come and lead a youth department in evangelism and discipleship far greater than a curriculum alone can do.

Mature Men
Our men have had hundreds of hours of training and practical experience in youth work. Not only do they know how to work with kids, they know how to work with the adults. They are trained not only to be leaders, but also facilitators. They are coming to help you with your church and your church workers, whether they be laymen or full-time staff. Whether it is vacuuming, mixing Koolaid or straightening up after the service; they are there to serve.

Consultative Evangelism
Our programs have taken us many sectors of the independent Baptist movement. We have seen many things that work and don’t work. Our involvement with your church will be more than just showing up and running your program. BYM has a wealth of information available to share. Do you need ideas on how to grow your teen department? discipline in jr. church? promotional ideas? community outreach with a limited staff and budget? bringing families to church? We can consult with you on what we have seen that works and perhaps help you set up a training and implementation schedule.

Inexpensive
Our program is very inexpensive when compared to other VBS programs and evangelistic outreaches. If you are a mission church, church planter or a very small work, we’ll still come and help. We are missionaries. Our service to you is not related to your financial reciprocation.

Flexibility
BYM has a standard program that includes a Monday morning through Friday morning VBS with a teen revival at night. We run a closing program for the parents on Friday night. That is what we like to do. It works well. However, it has been tweaked and changed so many different ways, you could hardly imagine. The bottom line is: it is your church, and your town that we are trying to reach. We will act as your assistant and adapt our schedule, events, emphasis, etc... to make it what you need.

Benefits
Your church will benefit from the BYM program in many ways.

Community Outreach
Our program reaches into the community with the Gospel and a positive image of your church. People love people who love kids. If your church has a heart and program for children and teens, then the community will have a greater level of respect and acceptance for you.

Godly Examples
The BYM program introduces hard working, zealous, Christian servants to your congregation. Our men will be an example that your youth and adults can look up to. A servant, sold out to the cause!

Local Church
Our program complements your existing program and philosophies. We believe in the local church. We believe that the pastor is the leader of the church. We don’t show up to change what you have been doing, we show up to assist you in your goals of shepherding your sheep and community.

Gospel Spread
The Word of God will be preached. The lives of your young people and adults will be challenged during our programs. The classroom time, the rally time, the teen revival, and the regular services will all be focused on getting the Word out. God’s Word changes things!

Practical Training
Your people will be trained. Daily orientations and a hands-on approach to teaching will ensure that your teachers and potential teachers(teenagers) will be exposed to many types of teaching methods. Our men are trained to train.

Church Growth
Your church will grow. Planting and watering seeds, harvesting souls, and laying up treasures in heaven. All of these will take place. Prayer, hard work and faith in the Holy Spirit’s work will ensure spiritual progress in the life of your local assembly and community.

Conclusion:
BYM can be the spark you need. Let’s work together to give the devil a bloody nose and God the glory!

Responsibilities
We'll discuss BYM's responsibilities, and the local Church's responsibilities.

BYM Responsibilities

Curriculum
Baptist Youth Mission has spent much time, effort and money for your kids to receive quality Bible teaching. Once your rally is confirmed, you receive Teacher Materials and a Missionary Handbook. These provide simple lesson plans that can easily be taught by a novice teacher, or expanded and fully developed by a pro. Our daily missionary story is dynamic because it is acted out by the BYM evangelist, the church staff and the kids themselves. This method is so effective it often is the highlight of the entire week.

Materials
Awards and incentives are keys to successful Bible Schools. BYM will provide award Bibles for the closing program, balloons and streamers for decoration, props for the missionary story, scales for the offering, and a variety of other trinkets for the kids. We will also supply the “Rodeo Bucks” which are the life blood of the Bible School’s economy.
BYM will also furnish you with up to 1000 Bible School flyers. They will be bright colors and are personalized for your church and town. Besides the pertinent Bible School and teen program information, the flyers have your location address, phone number, and the times of Sunday and midweek services. Extra flyers are available.

Training
Our staff will come to your church prior to the Bible School and conduct training sessions (subject to locality). These sessions, the orientation, and the daily sessions with the teachers will be an informative and exciting distillation of many years on the Bible School experience.

Offerings
The missionary/evangelist that conducts your campaign will be taking a daily penny offering from the kids and teens. This money may be used for a special project or to help defer the cost of the Bible School.

Church Responsibilities

Registration Fee
A registration fee is due to confirm your date for a Vacation Bible School. An invoice will be sent with your official confirmation notice.

Travel Expenses
Please plan to help with the travel expenses. Often times these are paid in advance. Check with your evangelist.

Love Offering
Beyond the registration fee and the travel expenses, we would appreciate for you to give a good love offering to our men. Remember, the laborers are worthy of their reward. Please be generous.

Housing/Meals
If possible, please house and feed the staff close to the church. We spend about 16 hours each day at the church and it is convenient to be nearby. A hot lunch at the church each day is especially nice. Evening meals will vary due to the teen program. Often the missionary/evangelist will have his family along; please keep this in mind when considering housing. We usually arrive on Saturday and leave on Saturday.

Mission Support
Baptist Youth Mission is currently supported by local churches, caring individuals and part-time secular work. We would be honored if your church would consider us for missionary support. We would like to come to your church in the fall and present the full scope of our work. If the finances were available, we would be able to handle more churches that are requesting us to come.

Staff
Running an effective Vacation Bible School requires an excited, dedicated and coordinated staff. Since we work with such a variety of church sizes, we have become accustomed to being flexible. Ideally there should be a teacher and an assistant for every grade level, a few extroverted individuals for acting out the missionary story, some counselors, a couple folks to handle the refreshments and a bus driver or two.

However, at most churches, we will all wear many hats. The important thing is that everyone should be ready to do anything. Since each church is different, we will need to plan this over the phone. (A few years back, my partner and I, the pastor and his wife, and one other lady ran a Bible School of about 150 kids and teens with nearly 50 salvation decisions.) It can be done if this is your situation as well.

A partial solution to the understaffing problem has been using teenagers and youth groups from other churches. If you are interested in having other teens come and help, please contact us immediately.
